For Cupich and Prevost, a person's moral integrity no longer matters

Prevost: “I am not terribly familiar with the particular case. I think it’s important to look at the overall work that a senator has done during, if I’m not mistaken, in 40 years of service in the United States Senate”

Durbin: "Overturning Roe Has Unleashed a Health Care Crisis in this Country"
Durbin: "I condemns Republicans' so-called "Born-Alive Abortion Survivor Protection Act."
Dick Durbin: Abortion is a fundamental right.
After the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, he said he would keep working "to enshrine into law a woman’s right to make her own reproductive choices."

Cupich justified his betrayal of the faith by arguing that a politician who promotes infanticide through partial-birth abortion can be honored for his support of illegal immigration. So, why not give the award to a "coyote" (a person who smuggles immigrants across the Mexico–United States border), since, according to Cupich and Prevost, a person's moral integrity no longer matters?

Remember that we are talking here about an apostate who has publicly renounced the Catholic faith.

Durbin responded to the communion ban in 2004 that he is accountable to his constituents, even if it means defying Church teachings.

Matthew 10:33
 But he that shall deny me before men, I will also deny him before my Father who is in heaven.

CHRYSOSTOM. (Hom. 34. in Matt.) The Lord is not then content with an inward faith, but requires an outward confession, urging us to confidence and greater love. And since this is useful for all, He speaks generally, saying, Whosoever shall confess me...

CHRYSOSTOM. (ubi sup.) Both in condemnation a greater punishment is announced, and in blessing a greater reward; as if He said, Now you confess and deny, but I then, for a far greater recompense of good and evil awaits them in the world to come.

CYRIL OF ALEXANDRIA. Now they who deny are first indeed those who in time of persecution renounce the faith. Besides these, there are heretical teachers also, and their disciples.

CHRYSOSTOM. There are other modes also of denying which St. Paul describes, saying, they profess that they know God, but in works they deny him. (Tit. 1:16.)

1 John 1:6
 If we claim that we have fellowship with him
while we continue to live in darkness,
we are lying and do not live in the truth.

Durbin on same-sex "marriage":
“This is a great day for marriage equality and a historic day for civil rights in our country,” said Durbin. “The decision by the Supreme Court affirms that same-sex couples across the nation have the right to marry whom they love and to participate fully - with their families - in the rights and responsibilities of marriage. Another step in the march toward equal rights has been taken today.”

Thomas D. Howes:
I interpreted Pope Leo as saying that he tolerates (approves) bishops honoring all sorts of people whose actions don't cohere perfectly with Church teaching.

Louie Verrecchio: Leo's mealy-mouthed comments on the Durbin affair puts additional pressure on Trad, Inc. to face the harsh reality that Robert Prevost, beneath the saccharine smile and gentle façade, is just as hostile to the one true faith as his predecessor.

The Catechism Of The Catholic Church
1867 The catechetical tradition also recalls that there are "sins that cry to heaven": the blood of Abel, [Cf. Gen 4:10] the sin of the Sodomites, [Cf. Gen 18:20; 19:13]

1868 Sin is a personal act. Moreover, we have a responsibility for the sins committed by others when we cooperate in them: [1736]

- by participating directly and voluntarily in them;

- by ordering, advising, praising, or approving them;

- by not disclosing or not hindering them when we have an obligation to do so;

- by protecting evil-doers.

1869 Thus sin makes men accomplices of one another and causes concupiscence, violence, and injustice to reign among them. Sins give rise to social situations and institutions that are contrary to the divine goodness. "Structures of sin" are the expression and effect of personal sins. They lead their victims to do evil in their turn. In an analogous sense, they constitute a "social sin." [John Paul II, RP 16] [408, 1887]

1 Corinthians 5:11
 But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of brother or sister who is sexually immoral or greedy, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or robber. Do not even eat with such a one.

2 Corinthians 8:21
 for we aim at what is honorable not only in the Lord’s sight but also in the sight of men.

Titus 2:7-8
Show yourself to them in all respects as a model of good works, while in your teaching exhibit integrity and dignity and a soundness of speech that cannot be criticized. Then any opponent will be put to shame when he can find nothing evil to say about us.

1 Thessalonians 5:22
abstain from every form of evil.

1 Peter 1:15-17 but as he who called you is holy, be holy yourselves in all your conduct; since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” And if you invoke as Father him who judges each one impartially according to his deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile.

Romans 12:9
A Truly Sincere Love. Let your love be sincere. Loathe what is evil and hold fast to what is good.

Philippians 1:9-11
And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruits of righteousness which come through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
