Cardinal Fernández Attacks Benedict XVI – Gloria.tv
At the time, the congregation was led by Cardinal William Levada. The notification was issued with the approval of Pope Benedict XVI. It declared that some of the Spanish Jesuit’s works contain “notable discrepancies with the faith of the Church.”
On May 12, speaking at Pontifical Urban University, Tucho claimed that the notification “does not encourage the effort to take seriously the context in which theological reflection takes place.”
He attacked the notification for declaring that theology rooted in “the context of the poor” was “inadequate and dangerous”. Tucho also criticized the idea that theology can begin only from ecclesial tradition without serious engagement with lived historical realities.
Major Ecclesiological Shift
Another revelation from Tucho: “Some time ago, in the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, the instruction given to nuncios in those countries was that they should carefully monitor possible deviations and dangers of inculturation.
Now, instead, they are asked to encourage initiatives and processes of inculturation in the lands where they serve as pontifical representatives.”
Tucho Himself Under Scrutiny
Víctor ‘Tucho’ Fernández: “They even told me that I hadn't upheld the Church's position on homosexuals.”
Furthermore, Tucho recalled that in 2007, he published an article against the 2006 notification that subsequently led in 2010 to a delay in his approval as rector of the Pontifical Catholic University of Argentina.
The Vatican expected Tucho to retract his text before approving him as rector. In 2011, Tucho wrote a second article. He "reaffirmed" his position, but added formulations that were acceptable to Rome. For example: "It is precisely the faith of the Church that provides the most solid and profound foundation for seeing the poor as God sees them and being concerned about their situation."
The Vatican granted the nihil obstat and Tucho effectively became rector in May 2011.
It is well known that Tucho and Bergoglio rebelled against Pope Benedict XVI in Argentina. So, Fernández, tell us now: who is the schismatic?
