Father Meiattini: Amoris Laetitia disorients the Christian families instead of confirming them in the faith

Amoris Laetitia Turns Indissolubility of Marriage into “Phantom”

en.news Father Giulio Meiattini, a Benedictine of Madonna della Scara Abbey in Noci, Italy, has published the book “Amoris Laetitia? I sacramenti ridotti a morale” (Amoris Laetitia? The Sacraments Reduced to Morals).

Meiattini explained to La Fede quotidiana (February 24) that Amoris Laetitia disorients the Christian families instead of confirming them in the faith because its Chapter 8 introduces a relativistic practice and does not properly consider the sacramental foundation of moral theology.

According to Meiattini Amoris Laetitia preserves the indissolubility of Christian marriage only in theory. In the light of the Buenos Aires interpretation which Pope Francis has called the only and official interpretation of Amoris Laetitia and which Meiattini considers “badly written” it is “impossible to say that the principle of indissolubility is respected.“

“One can insist with words that the indissolubility of marriage is sacrosanct, but if one allows those who live in notorious and stable infidelity to access to the sacraments, the indissolubility becomes a phantom”, Meiattini adds.

For him it would have been “not only opportune, but dutiful and polite” and “a sign of respect and willingness to listen” if Francis had answered the Dubia of the four cardinals regarding Amoris Laetitia.
