Vatican reports first case of coronavirus in Vatican City

Vatican's Secretariat of State Closed For Fear [of Coronavirus]

en.news The Vatican Secretariat of State was temporarily closed "for disinfection."

The reason: Somebody in the Vatican tested positive for the coronavirus.

Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni said that the person was a patient in the Vatican’s health services.

Outpatient services in Vatican clinics had been suspended to "sanitise" the areas.

The statement seemed to suggest that it is very possible for the Vatican to suspend both the Angelus and the general audience in the coming days and weeks, thus complying with an anti-coronavirus decree passed yesterday by the government of Giuseppe Conte, which banned events and meetings in which there cannot be at least a meter of distance between people and it decreed the closure of schools and universities throughout the peninsula until March 15.
