Saint Aloysius Gonzaga joined the Society of Jesus to win souls for Christ and convert heretics

We read in his biography that Saint Aloysius Gonzaga entered the company of Jesus to win souls for Christ:

During a painful kidney disease he dedicated himself to prayer and reading from the collection of "Lives of the Saints" by Surius.
Other books that he read in that period of seclusion are Las cartas de Indias, about the experiences of the Jesuit missionaries in that country, which gave him the idea of joining the Society of Jesus in order to work for the conversion of heretics and Compendium of the spiritual doctrine of Fray Luis de Granada. As the first step on his future journey as a missionary, he took advantage of the summer vacations he spent at his home in Castiglione to teach catechism to poor local children.

His goal in everything was the greater glory of God.
