“By their fruits you will know them” means that a person’s true character and intentions are revealed through their actions and the results of their behavior, not just their words or appearance. This teaching comes from Matthew 7:16-23, part of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. Jesus warns about false prophets who may appear righteous on the outside but are corrupt on the inside. He uses the analogy of trees and fruit: just as a good tree produces good fruit and a bad tree produces bad fruit, a person’s actions reflect their true nature (Matthew 7:17-18). He emphasizes that not everyone who claims to follow him will enter the kingdom of heaven; only those whose lives demonstrate obedience to God’s will are recognized as true followers (Matthew 7:21-23).
