Bergoglio also covered his ring to some priests and nuns putting his left hand on top so that they would kiss his left hand instead of his ring (that he used as 'bishop' of Argentina).
Bergoglio does not use a papal ring known as a Fisherman's ring that is made from ring recycling when the previous pope dies.
Pope Benedict XVI continues to wear the fisherman's ring.
“Sometimes he likes it, sometimes he does not. It’s really as simple as that,” said a close aide to Bergoglio who spoke on the condition of anonymity to Reuters.
