Bergoglio Peddles Myth of Climate Migration

The refugee crisis has more to do with wars, violent conflicts, rule by warlords, Islamic regimes, Islamic terrorist groups and persecution, explains Asserate. These situations have created a significant crisis for Christians and other minorities, one which Pope Francis has failed to address.

Scientists contest 'self-perpetuating false claims' of climate displacement

VATICAN CITY (ChurchMilitant.com) - Pope Francis is hyping the hotly contested hypothesis of "mass climate migration" despite recent scientific studies categorically stating that the claim is "without empirical scientific basis" and the product of a "self-referencing narrative."

Cartoon depicting Francis' climate-change alarmism

In his preface to the Pastoral Guidelines on Climate Displaced People (PGDCP) published Tuesday, Francis notes that "the huge and increasing numbers displaced by climate crises are fast becoming a great emergency of our age, visible almost nightly on our screens, and demanding global responses."

The PGDCP calls on the Catholic Church to "promote integral ecological conversion in relation to climate-caused displacement (CCD)" and states that "the challenge of CCD is today at the heart of being a credible and witnessing Church, a caring and inclusive ecclesial community."

Adapting the words of the prophet Isaiah to fit his climate-alarmist agenda, the pontiff rephrases Isaiah 1:18–20: "Come, let us talk this over. If you are ready to listen, we can still have a great future. But if you refuse to listen and to act, you will be devoured by the heat and the pollution, by droughts here and rising waters there."

The climate crisis has been unfolding since the Industrial Revolution," claims Francis, blaming it on the "result of poor choices and destructive activity, of selfishness and neglect, that set humankind at odds with creation, our common home."

"For a long time, it developed so slowly that it remained imperceptible except to a very few clairvoyants. Even now, it is uneven in its impact: Climate change happens everywhere, but the greatest pain is felt by those who have contributed the least to it," he adds.

The narrative of climate-induced mass migrations is biasing scientific and policy debates, despite the paucity of supporting evidence. Gab Tweet

The PGDCP document, published by the Integral Ecology Sector of the Vatican's Migrants and Refugees Section (MRS), draws heavily from Francis' own writings and, to a lesser extent, from policy documents of globalist bodies like the United Nations and World Bank.

But the 17-page document fails to cite a single peer-reviewed study contesting the hypothesis of climate migration in its 77 endnote references.

Presenting the document at a Tuesday press conference, MRS undersecretary Fr. Fabio Baggio claimed that the climate crisis "is already a reality for millions of people throughout the world, in particular for the inhabitants of the existential peripheries."

Father Joshtrom Isaac Kureethadam, coordinator of ecology and creation at the Vatican Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, insisted on "a strong nexus between climate crisis and displacement," admonishing that the climate crisis was becoming "one of the primary triggers of displacement in recent years."

According to Kureethadam, 8.5 million were displaced because of violence and conflict in 2019, while 24.9 million people were displaced due to natural disasters (out of more than 33 million newly displaced people).

Misleading claims about mass migration induced by climate change continue to surface in both academia and policy. Gab Tweet

Kureethadam acknowledged that the designation of "climate-caused displacement" (CCD) does not yet exist and that poor migrants are mostly displaced within their own countries "because they don't have any resources, any help to go anywhere."

But even scientists who accept the narrative of man-made climate change agree: "There is no basis for the voluminous reports of climate-induced migration."

Image
The Syrian refugee crisis was not caused by climate change

Climate researcher Patrick Michaels notes that, despite the lack of empirical evidence, "Everyone, from the former president to university faculty and petit-bureaucrats of all stripes, to media around the world, have [sic] embraced this notion, which is a product of 'self-perpetuating false claims.'"

Citing the paper "Climate Migration Myths," written by 32 scientists and published in the prestigious scientific journal Nature Climate Change, Michaels laments that "the narrative of climate-induced mass migrations is 'biasing' scientific and policy debates 'despite the paucity of supporting evidence.'"

"Misleading claims about mass migration induced by climate change continue to surface in both academia and policy," the 32 scientists write, warning that such claims support "a false narrative that predicts large numbers of 'climate refugees.'"

"This self-referencing narrative within scientific literature and policy reports has the consequence of entrenching climate migration as a looming security crisis without an empirical scientific basis," they add.

Citing "significant evidence that migration is not solely driven by climate change" but "by a mix of climatic, socio-economic, cultural and political factors," the paper argues that "even when climate change has a role to play, it remains difficult to determine the extent of its influence."

Apocalyptic predictions may grab our attention, but they can also stoke xenophobia and miss the full picture of what's happening on the ground. Gab Tweet

"Categorizing 'climate migrants' as distinguishable from 'non-climate migrants' is not empirically possible in most if not all circumstances. As a consequence, predictions of mass climate-induced migration are inherently flawed," the scientists conclude.

Ironically, stoking up CCD alarmism has "not motivated people or governments to step up climate action but [has] further entrenched xenophobia and racism and contributed to the fortification of Fortress Europe," writes Kira Walker, signaling that the Vatican's document could actually be counterproductive.

Dr. Asserate blames Western support of African dictators

"Apocalyptic predictions may grab our attention, but they can also stoke xenophobia and miss the full picture of what's happening on the ground," Alexandra Tempus concurs.

Ethiopian-German political analyst Dr. Asfa-Wossen Asserate, in his book African Exodus: Migration and the Future of Europe, establishes how, by the end of 2015, the top two countries from which refugees were fleeing had nothing to do with climate change.

"Syria was responsible for generating the greatest number of refugees," displacing over 4.9 million Syrian refugees, and Afghanistan "was estimated to have produced around 2.7 million refugees," writes Asserate.

The other nations responsible for creating the largest populations of refugees "are all African nations: Somalia (with 1.12 million refugees), South Sudan (779,000), Sudan (629,000) and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (542,000)."

Of the 10 countries responsible for creating the most refugees, alongside Myanmar and Colombia, are the Central African Republic (471,000) and Eritrea (411,000).

The refugee crisis has more to do with wars, violent conflicts, rule by warlords, Islamic regimes, Islamic terrorist groups and persecution, explains Asserate. These situations have created a significant crisis for Christians and other minorities, one which Pope Francis has failed to address.

Bergoglio’s “Interreligious People of God” heresy is the direct consequence of his Abu Dhabi heresy

Francis expands the “People of God”:
Now it includes All Religions!

Logical consequence of Abu Dhabi heresy…

NovusOrdoWatch

The heresy superspreader Jorge Bergoglio — a.k.a. “Pope Francis” — held another general audience today. The topic this time was the Easter Triduum, that is, the three days leading up to Easter: Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday.

Not surprisingly, the Argentinian pseudo-pope was busy shifting the focus from Christ’s Passion and Death onto “the sufferings of the sick, the poor, the rejected of this world; …the ‘sacrificed lambs’, the innocent victims of wars, dictatorships, everyday violence, abortions… the too many who are crucified in our time … who are the image of Jesus Crucified….” For Francis, such a shift of emphasis from God to man is typical and would not even be worth blogging about. It is simply par for the course.

However, a few lines later the false pope detonates the spiritual-doctrinal equivalent of a nuclear bomb. He asserts: “There are small ‘islands’ of the people of God, both Christian and of all other faiths, that hold in their heart the desire to be better.” This quote is taken directly from the English translation found on the Vatican web site. (Italian original: “Ci sono piccole ‘isole’ del popolo di Dio, sia cristiano sia di qualsiasi altra fede, che conservano nel cuore la voglia di essere migliori.”)

The import of this remark is easy to miss. In fact, the sentence itself is fairly inconspicuous, squeezed in between a waterfall of words. What’s the problem? The problem is with this part:

“…the people of God, both Christian and of all other faiths…”

That is apostasy!

Apostasy from the Faith is defined as “the complete and voluntary abandonment of the Christian religion, whether the apostate embraces another religion such as Paganism, Judaism, Mohammedanism, etc., or merely makes profession of Naturalism, Rationalism, etc.” (Catholic Encyclopedia, s.v. “Apostasy”).

To identify the followers of all other religions as part of “the people of God” is not only heretical, it is a total repudiation of the Catholic religion, of any semblance of Christianity, and indeed of the very notion of revealed religion in general. How far that is removed from the Catholic dogma that there is no salvation outside the Catholic Church! “Faith orders Us to hold that out of the Apostolic Roman Church no person can be saved, that it is the only ark of salvation, and that whoever will not enter therein shall perish in the waters of the deluge” (Pope Pius IX, Allocution Singulari Quadam).

Francis’ “Interreligious People of God” heresy is the direct consequence of his heresy regarding God willing the existence of many different religions (we have nicknamed it the “Abu Dhabi heresy” because it was proclaimed by Francis together with a Muslim imam in Abu Dhabi). Remember? The statement they signed on Feb. 4, 2019, asserts:

Freedom is a right of every person: each individual enjoys the freedom of belief, thought, expression and action. The pluralism and the diversity of religions, colour, sex, race and language are willed by God in His wisdom, through which He created human beings. This divine wisdom is the source from which the right to freedom of belief and the freedom to be different derives.(Antipope Francis and Grand Imam Ahmad Al-Tayyib, “A Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together”, Vatican.va, Feb. 4, 2019; underlining added.)

This statement ruins the very foundations of the Christian religion. For if it is God’s will that there be Buddhists, Muslims, Hindus, Jews, Jains, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Unitarians, etc., then Jesus Christ is not the Messiah, then He did not rise from the dead, and His religion is not the true religion. Then the Catholic Church is a fraud. For Christ said: “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No man cometh to the Father, but by me” (Jn 14:6); and, “Go ye into the whole world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized, shall be saved: but he that believeth not shall be condemned” (Mk 16:15-16).

But Jesus Christ is not a liar! The liar, instead, is Francis: “Who is a liar, but he who denieth that Jesus is the Christ? This is Antichrist, who denieth the Father, and the Son” (1 Jn 2:22). Instead of preaching the need to enter the Ark of Salvation when he visited Abu Dhabi two years ago, Francis preached the need to enter what he called the “Ark of Fraternity”:

It is no wonder that St. Paul warned against those who would promote a counterfeit gospel: “But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach a gospel to you besides that which we have preached to you, let him be anathema” (Gal 1:8).

It is astonishing to see how boldly Francis slipped a softly-spoken but far-reaching “doctrinal development” into his Mar. 31 general audience. The incident provides him with the necessary footnote to use later down the road when he needs to show precedent for the changed teaching. That is what he did in 2017/18 with his “doctrinal development” on the death penalty.

At the root of this latest “development”, of course, is the teaching of the Second Vatican Council (1962-65). Whereas the Modernist robber synod still restricted the term “people of God” mainly to the Catholic Church, inasmuch as “the people of God adheres unwaveringly to the faith given once and for all to the saints” (Dogmatic Constitution Lumen Gentium, n. 12), it also opened the door to an eventual widening of the concept. This it did by ambiguously declaring that “there belong to or are related to [the people of God] in various ways, the Catholic faithful, all who believe in Christ, and indeed the whole of mankind, for all men are called by the grace of God to salvation” (Lumen Gentium, n. 13; underlining added).

So now Francis has expanded the “people of God” to include members of all religions, and that is something he accomplished via the Abu Dhabi heresy, according to which God positively wills a diversity of religions. This is only logical, for if God wills some people to be followers of other religions, then it must be true that they too are part of the “people of God.”

We can expect Francis to develop this new theme further in the months or years ahead. It lends itself perfectly to advancing his apostate interreligious super-church of human fraternity, and the notion of the Church as “people of God” has been front and center in his sect since Vatican II anyway. In the council’s constitution Lumen Gentium alone, the phrase “people of God” appears 41 times.

Certainly there is nothing wrong, in and of itself, with the term “people of God”. It was used, although not very frequently, before Vatican II. A quick web search reveals the term was employed by Popes Leo X, Leo XII, St. Pius X, and Pius XI, to name but a few. It is found also in the Third Lateran Council under Pope Alexander III, for instance, and is used even in the Roman Pontifical for the ordination of priests (see Pope Pius XII’s Encyclical Menti Nostrae, n. 9). None of this is surprising, because it is actually a biblical term found in both the Old and New Testaments. Thus Pope St. Peter wrote to the earliest Christians that they “are now the people of God” (1 Pet 2:10).

What St. Peter didn’t know is what Francis just revealed from the god of surprises: that everyone else is now the people of God, too. Although, granted, Francis didn’t say anything about atheists, those with no religion. But surely one can detect a few people-of-God-ly elements in them as well, no? After all, the Jesuit apostate has already stated that the gates of heaven are always open to all people, and he has certified that “good” atheists actually go there. This shouldn’t be too difficult then. Let’s give Francis a few more audiences, and surely the thing will develop.

The idea of an interreligious “people of God” naturally implies the heresy of Indifferentism — that it does not matter what religion one professes, at least it does not matter as far as one’s possibility of salvation is concerned; and that has of course been roundly condemned by the true Church.

Pope Gregory XVI, for instance, wrote to his bishops:

Now We consider another abundant source of the evils with which the Church is afflicted at present: indifferentism. This perverse opinion is spread on all sides by the fraud of the wicked who claim that it is possible to obtain the eternal salvation of the soul by the profession of any kind of religion, as long as morality is maintained. Surely, in so clear a matter, you will drive this deadly error far from the people committed to your care. With the admonition of the apostle that “there is one God, one faith, one baptism” may those fear who contrive the notion that the safe harbor of salvation is open to persons of any religion whatever. They should consider the testimony of Christ Himself that “those who are not with Christ are against Him,” and that they disperse unhappily who do not gather with Him. Therefore “without a doubt, they will perish forever, unless they hold the Catholic faith whole and inviolate.” (Pope Gregory XVI, Encyclical Mirari Vos, n. 13)

Likewise, Pope Leo XIII condemned

the great error of this age — that a regard for religion should be held as an indifferent matter, and that all religions are alike. This manner of reasoning is calculated to bring about the ruin of all forms of religion, and especially of the Catholic religion, which, as it is the only one that is true, cannot, without great injustice, be regarded as merely equal to other religions. (Pope Leo XIII, Encyclical Humanum Genus, n. 16)

In the same manner, Pope Pius XI denounced

that false opinion which considers all religions to be more or less good and praiseworthy, since they all in different ways manifest and signify that sense which is inborn in us all, and by which we are led to God and to the obedient acknowledgment of His rule. Not only are those who hold this opinion in error and deceived, but also in distorting the idea of true religion they reject it, and little by little, turn aside to naturalism and atheism, as it is called; from which it clearly follows that one who supports those who hold these theories and attempt to realize them, is altogether abandoning the divinely revealed religion. (Pope Pius XI, Encyclical Mortalium Animos, n. 2)

Naturalism is precisely what Francis preaches again and again; sometimes more, sometimes less overtly, as many of our posts demonstrate:

The notion of a “people of God” that consists of people from all different religions is thoroughly Naturalist because it does away with the necessity of supernatural Faith, hope, and charity.

However, all those who accept Francis’ blasphemous and heretical premise that God has willed a diversity of religions in the same way that He has willed a diversity of sexes, races, and languages, will not be able to escape the force of the logic: If God is basically the god of all religions, then all their adherents necessarily make up the “people of God.”

But this should give any thinking human being pause, because if virtually everyone is somehow part of God’s people, then who is left to constitute the kingdom of the devil? As Pope Leo XIII taught:

The race of man, after its miserable fall from God, the Creator and the Giver of heavenly gifts, “through the envy of the devil,” separated into two diverse and opposite parts, of which the one steadfastly contends for truth and virtue, the other of those things which are contrary to virtue and to truth. The one is the kingdom of God on earth, namely, the true Church of Jesus Christ; and those who desire from their heart to be united with it, so as to gain salvation, must of necessity serve God and His only-begotten Son with their whole mind and with an entire will. The other is the kingdom of Satan, in whose possession and control are all whosoever follow the fatal example of their leader and of our first parents, those who refuse to obey the divine and eternal law, and who have many aims of their own in contempt of God, and many aims also against God.                                        This twofold kingdom St. Augustine keenly discerned and described after the manner of two cities, contrary in their laws because striving for contrary objects; and with a subtle brevity he expressed the efficient cause of each in these words: “Two loves formed two cities: the love of self, reaching even to contempt of God, an earthly city; and the love of God, reaching to contempt of self, a heavenly one.” At every period of time each has been in conflict with the other, with a variety and multiplicity of weapons and of warfare, although not always with equal ardor and assault. At this period, however, the partisans of evil seems to be combining together, and to be struggling with united vehemence, led on or assisted by that strongly organized and widespread association called the Freemasons. (Pope Leo XIII, Encyclical Humanum Genus, nn. 1-2)

There are two kingdoms, then, and they are both at war with each other until the end of time.

We know which one will ultimately prevail, but we also know which one “Pope” Francis is advancing — and it’s not the one steadfastly contending for truth and virtue.

Cardinal Burke: Francis' Anti-Mass-Decree is an “expression of loss of faith in the Holy Eucharist”

Burke: “It Looks Like We Are In The End Times”

Francis' Anti-Mass-Decree is an “expression of loss of faith in the Holy Eucharist,”  Cardinal Raymond Burke told CatholicAction.org recently.

For Burke, the many priests celebrating at the various altars of St Peter’s basilica every morning was edifying, “One has to understand that the offering of the Holy Mass by the priest in concelebration is in a certain way diminished.”

Imposing concelebration as a general rule means “that the many graces that are obtained by each priest are lost.”

Regarding the end times, Burke explained that Our Lord forbids speculating about them because only the Father knows the date. However, in the face of the "tremendous evils" which are entering the life of the Church Burke exclaims, “It looks like we are in those times.”

Simultaneously, he warns of private revelations observing that during his lifetime the End Times has been seen more than once, for instance in the year 2000, “That is not healthy.”

Bergoglio's church of darkness is not interested in the Salvation of Souls but in the Pachamama

Bergoglio is obsessed with so-called climate change

Bergoglio obsessively repeats: "Time is Running out". But he does not call for the conversion of sinners, but insistently promotes the so-called climate change.

"Climate Change must be stopped"

And this is the same person that accused the Church of being obsessed with issues such as abortion and homosexuality: "The church's pastoral ministry cannot be obsessed with the transmission of a disjointed multitude of doctrines to be imposed insistently"

Since Bergoglio does not ask sinners to repent or call them to abandon mortal sins such as homosexuality and adultery or to abandon the idols of false religions such as Pachamama, then he has become obsessed with proselytizing the leftist agenda that promotes the climate change fraud.

"This peace among men will not last long: 25 years of abundant harvests will make them forget that the sins of men are the cause of all the woes which happen on earth. Prophetic message Of Our Lady Of La Salette

...for a great quantity of people who had good will, the access to the sources of the grace of the heart of Jesus was prohibited and closed by the suppression of the exercise of devotion by the closing and the profanation of the churches. Anne Catherine Emmerich

Cardinal Zen expresses ‘pain and indignation’ at St. Peter’s Basilica private Mass restrictions

Cardinal Joseph Zen Ze-kiun departs the Pontifical Urbaniana University in Rome, Nov. 18, 2014. / Bohumil Petrik/CNA

.- Cardinal Joseph Zen on Tuesday expressed “pain and indignation” at restrictions on private Masses in St. Peter’s Basilica.

The former bishop of Hong Kong said March 30 that if he could, he would fly to Rome and kneel outside the pope’s residence until the decree was withdrawn.

He wrote: “Pain and indignation invade my heart to hear certain incredible news: They have forbidden private masses in St. Peter’s!?”

“If it were not for the restrictions imposed by the coronavirus, I would take the first flight to come to Rome and get on my knees in front of the door of Santa Marta (now the papal residence) until the Holy Father has this edict withdrawn.”

Zen made his remarks on his website in an open letter to Cardinal Robert Sarah after the former prefect of the Vatican’s Congregation for Divine Worship asked Pope Francis on Monday to reinstate the celebration of private Masses at the side altars in St. Peter’s Basilica.

Zen is the fifth cardinal to voice opposition to the change, which went into effect March 22, after SarahRaymond BurkeGerhard Müller, and Walter Brandmüller.

In his open letter, translated into English by Bree A. Dail, Zen wrote: “It was the thing that strengthened my faith most every time I came to Rome: at exactly seven o’clock I would enter the sacristy (where I almost always would meet that holy man, the Archbishop, then Cardinal Paolo Sardi); a young priest would come forward and would help me to dress in the vestments, and then they take me to an altar (in the Basilica proper or in the grottoes, that would make no difference to me, we were in St. Peter’s Basilica!).”

The new protocols, issued by the First Section of the Vatican Secretariat of State, say that priests will be invited to take part in several concelebrated Masses at St. Peter’s every day but will not be permitted to offer private Masses at the basilica’s many side altars.

It was a long-standing custom that priests would offer individual Masses in the early morning hours at some of the side altars in the basilica. Sometimes priests said the Mass alone or with only a deacon, and other times they would be accompanied by small groups of Catholics.

Priests traveling with pilgrim groups were also permitted to reserve an altar for a private Mass.

There are a total of 45 altars and 11 chapels in St. Peter’s Basilica.

The 89-year-old cardinal, an outspoken defender of persecuted Chinese Catholics, said that he used to pray “with tears” for the Church in China at the Masses in St. Peter’s Basilica.

“I think these were the Masses that, in my life, I celebrated with more fervor and emotion, sometimes with tears praying for our living martyrs in China (now abandoned and pushed into the bosom of the schismatic church by the “Holy See” [as that document of June 2020 was presented without signatures and without the revisions of the Congregation for Doctrine]),” he wrote.

Zen has frequently criticized the Vatican Secretariat of State’s role in securing a “provisional agreement” between the Holy See and China over the appointment of bishops.

Concluding his open letter, he wrote: “It is time to reduce the excessive power of the Secretariat of State. Remove these sacrilegious hands from the communal home for all the Faithful in the world! Let them content themselves with playing worldly diplomacy with the father of lies. Let them make the Secretariat of State ‘a den of thieves’, But leave the devoted people of God alone!”

Apostate James Martin also denies the traditional Catholic teaching that Judas was condemned

The  ‘church of Judas’

(...)More than once Pope Francis has mentioned (here and here) that he keeps a picture of Judas hanging from the fig tree on the wall behind his work desk.

(...)

German Jesuit Fr. Christoph Wrembeck wrote Hope for Judas, a book just translated into English and published in the U.S. In a conversation between the book's author and Fr. James Martin, SJ, this topic of the rehabilitation of Judas in the name of mercy was discussed. The interview, promoted by New City Press, was held on March 23, 2021 and posted online the day after.

However, Our Lord stated quite clearly that it would have been better for Judas to not have been born, (Mt 26:24) and that he was a devil. (Jn 6:71) These divine words were correctly interpreted for 2,000 years as meaning that Judas was condemned to the deepest place in Hell. Now, the Pope and his Jesuit brothers are struggling to invalidate this truth.

Heresiarch Jorge Bergoglio: “Someone might think, ‘This Pope is a Heretic’…” for saying Judas Iscariot might be saved!

Viganò: Coccopalmerio and Paglia are homosexuals who belong to the “Gay Mafia”

Pope St. Leo the Great: "The godless betrayer, shutting his mind to all these things [offerings of God's Mercy], turned upon himself, not with a mind to repent, but in the madness of self-destruction; so that this man who had sold the Author of Life to the executioners of His death, even in the act of dying sinned unto the increase of his own eternal punishment."

“Poor Judas! Above seventeen hundred years have elapsed since he has been in Hell, and his Hell is still only beginning.”
St. Alphonsus Maria de Liguori

Have you not heard or read in the Psalm, in which the damnable end of the traitor Judas is foretold, how the prophecy spoke of him, ‘Let his prayer be turned into sin?’ (Saint Augustine of Hippo. Sermon 6, no. 2)

THEOPHYL. But how then did Judas perish? Because he did not continue to the end. Christ speaks of them who persevere. If any sheep is separated from the flock, and wanders from the Shepherd, it incurs danger immediately.  (Catena Aurea)

Augustine: They then who were chosen ate the Lord; he ate the bread of the Lord, to injure the Lord; they ate life, he damnation; for he that eats unworthily, eats damnation to himself (1 Cor 11:27).

GREG. By the time of the day is signified the end of the action. Judas went out in the night to accomplish his perfidy, for which he was never to be pardoned.

Cardinal Burke: Blowback to ban on same-sex blessings reveals ‘aggressive, homosexual agenda’ within Church

Burke said that bishops who openly defy the decree should voluntarily 'renounce' their office.

Mon Mar 29, 2021 - 5:33 pm EST

ROME, March 29, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) – Cardinal Raymond Burke said that defiance to the Vatican’s “no” to blessings for homosexual couples by various priests and bishops from different parts of the world — and even suggestions that the Pope did not approve of it — make it necessary for the Holy See to state clearly that Pope Francis approved the declaration and he stands by it.

“The blowback is simply an expression of a worldliness, a mundanity, which has entered into the Church by which the aggressive homosexual agenda is now dominating even in certain ecclesial circles and even among certain bishops,” the Cardinal, who is the former head of the Vatican's highest court and one of the world’s foremost canon lawyers, told EWTN’s Raymond Arroyo last week.

Earlier this month, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith issued a decree stating that the Catholic Church does not have the “power to give the blessing to unions of persons of the same sex.” Pope Francis “was informed and gave his assent to the publication” of the decree, according to the CDF document.

The Congregation stated that it is “not licit to impart a blessing on relationships, or partnerships, even stable, that involve sexual activity outside of marriage (i.e., outside the indissoluble union of a man and a woman open in itself to the transmission of life), as is the case of the unions between persons of the same sex.”

God “does not and cannot bless sin,” the decree stated.

Vatican observers speculated that Pope Francis was distancing himself from the CDF decree in his March 21 Angelus Address, where he said that Christians must sow “seeds of love, not with fleeting words but through concrete, simple and courageous examples, not with theoretical condemnations, but with gestures of love.”

Cardinal Burke said in his interview with EWTN that it’s not “unreasonable” to interpret the Pope’s Angelus address, as the Jesuit-run America Magazine did, as a reaction to the CDF’s declaration, but it remains, nevertheless, “unclear” what the Pope meant.

“I think it should be made clear that, you know, the Holy See, seeing that the official Jesuit journal in the United States of America makes these claims, the Holy See should make clear that the Pope, indeed, approved this declaration and that he stands by it,” he said.

Earlier in the interview, Burke praised the CDF statement as “most welcome and necessary.”

“It simply states what the Church has always taught and practiced with regard to same-sex attraction and when it leads then to acts which are intrinsically disordered, not according to God's plan. And so, from that point of view, there's nothing in it about which to be surprised.”

Burke said that one phrase in the decree that speaks about “positive elements” in such relationships requires a necessary clarification.

“When it speaks about ‘positive elements’ in a same-sex relationship, this has to be properly understood. If the ‘positive elements’ are having to do with something apart from the same-sex union, or, in other words, the same-sex liaison, then it's understandable that the persons remain good persons, even though they are living in a life which is disordered and sinful. But if it's interpreted that the relationship itself has ‘positive elements,’ that, of course, would be problematic.”

Burke went on to say that bishops who openly defy the decree, specifically mentioning at one point Belgian Bishop Johan Bonny, should voluntarily “renounce” their office.

“The bishop, if he's pained by what's declared by the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith, then he must examine himself with regard to his own coherence with the Catholic faith. And, if he is not holding to the Catholic faith, then he should renounce his office. He has to be relieved of his office as diocesan bishop, because this is simply unacceptable. It can’t be,” Burke said.

Bergoglio Appoints Openly Gay Juan Carlos Cruz to “Pontifical Commission for Protecting Minors”

LifeSiteNews: Despite the clear, traditional teaching of the Church on the matter of same-sex relations, Cruz hit out last week at the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF), which had just released a ruling banning the blessing of same-sex relationships.

Cruz, an outspoken advocate for a change to the Church’s perennial (and biblical) doctrine on homosexuality, said that those behind the CDF document “are completely in a world of their own, away from people and trying to defend the indefensible.”

He suggested, “If the church and the CDF do not advance with the world … Catholics will continue to flee,” adding that the Pope stands at odds with the leadership in the CDF.

Cruz will now serve on the Pontifical Committee for the Protection of Minors for three years.

Bergoglio's position contradicts the Church's longstanding teaching.
