Francis “Strong Men” in the Vatican – All Spaniards
Strong Men. The Spanish ElDebate.com presented Francis’ five strong men in the Vatican. All of them are Spaniards. However, since Francis deeply resents people who are strong and independent, the term “strong men” must be taken with a pinch of salt. Accordingly, these five people have never made waves nor rocked the boat. They kept a low profile because they have adapted to whatever regime was governing. Even ElDebate.com admits this.
Fernando Vérgez. He became the President of the Vatican’s 'Governatorato' although he is already 76 when according to Francis he should retire. A Legionary of Christ, Vérgez was educated into a mentality that obeys without asking questions and without caring about wrong or right. Vérgez is now responsible for all the services that make the day-to-day running of Vatican State, like police, the technical departments, the tribunals, the telecommunications department, the postal service, the Vatican museums, the fire brigade, the cleaning service, and the commercial area.
Luis Ladaria. When Francis booted out high-profile Cardinal Müller from the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, he replaced him with the Congregation’s faceless secretary, the Jesuit Luis Ladaria, a typical apparatchik. He is not so much protecting the faith as rubberstamping whatever doubtful position Francis takes. Sometimes, he publishes documents, apparently in line with Catholic Faith, for instances, when he said that homosex cohabitation cannot be blessed. However, this means nothing as words are not followed up with deeds.
Juan Antonio Guerrero. He is another Jesuit who was put in charge of the Secretariat for the Economy in 2019, after Francis had created a huge chaos and a big deficit in the Vatican’s finances. He will have a difficult stand in Francis’ Vatican where 2 + 2 equals 5 and problems are not solved but denied, and where Francis names people in order to undermine them.
Miguel Angel Ayuso. A Comboni Missionary and open heretic, he oversees the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue, and was instrumental in producing the Document on Human Fraternity, for Peace and Coexistence signed in 2019 in Abu Dhabi with the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar. This declaration will not change much with the Moslems, but it deeply undermines Catholic efforts to evangelise Islamic countries.
